Purchase With A Purpose: The Father's Heart Cafe

I wanted to introduce our ministry for this quarter: The Father’s Heart Café. Since our launch at the end of September, twenty-five percent of each sale has been put aside to be donated to this wonderful ministry. The Father’s Heart Café is in Summerville, GA. The director of this nonprofit ministry is Carie Woodall. The mission is to feed the hungry and love them like Jesus does. Their motto is “No One Leaves Hungry.” To them, it’s not about how rich or poor you are, if you are homeless or not, it’s about making sure everyone feels loved and leaves with a full belly.

Carie Woodall started this ministry in August, but the burden she has for this ministry started when she was just fourteen years old. She told me about a time when she was helping in a soup kitchen as a teenager, and God spoke to her and showed her that one day she would be feeding the hungry in a ministry of her own. At the time she didn’t know what would become of that burden God had planted in her heart, but God’s timing is always better than ours. Years later, God gave her the vision and name for The Father’s Heart Café.

In August, along with her husband and friends, she officially launched The Father’s Heart Café. Every Monday, rain, or shine, she sets up at Dowdy Park in Summerville, GA with packed lunches, blessing bags, clothes, nonperishable food items, and any other items that are donated that can fill a need in the community. Sometimes local farmers or produce stands have given her fresh vegetables to give out. Every week the number of packed lunches grows, but without fail, she has been able to pass out every packed lunch because “No One Leaves Hungry.”

The future vision is to open a café, with a long table, where everyone gathers for a meal no matter your community and financial status. She wants every person to know they are loved and welcome because Christ has given an invitation to everyone. This café will not only serve meals but also be a place for those who are homeless can have other needs met like a hot shower and a washing machine to clean clothes. With the passion and heart Carie has for this ministry and community, I can’t imagine how God is going to use this ministry in the future.

I have had the opportunity to volunteer a couple of times and let me tell you, I went thinking I was being a blessing to others, but I am the one that left blessed. I had an amazing time. I had the opportunity to meet, talk, and pray with so many people. I enjoyed the fellowship. The Monday before Thanksgiving, I was able to volunteer with a whole group of people. We all got together and helped pack Thanksgiving meals that day. We went to the park to set up with 94 lunches and all the lunches were gone within 45 minutes. It was a great day. My sister and my nieces were able to go that day as well. To watch my nieces, serve others for the cause of Christ, truly warmed my heart. At one point, I looked over and my youngest niece was gathered praying for someone in need. It brought tears to my eyes. We plan to go back on Christmas day to help serve meals. If you live close to the Summerville, GA area you should stop in on a Monday and help out. You will not regret it. You can also pray for this ministry. This ministry runs on donations. They not only accept financial donations but also food donations. They need food to help prepare the lunches each week. Please be in prayer that every need will be met.
